This lesson plan has students study their own community and then design a brochure.

Comparing Communities
This lesson plan has students learn about other communities by hearing guest speakers share information.

My Natural Community
Explore this site for ideas on what to observe in your own community in order to make comparisons with other communities.

Canada: Comparing Communities
This site highlights a project by a third-grade class that compared several different Canadian communities. Includes photographs showing each of the communities that you can use to point out differences to your students.

Good Neighbor Guide
The city of St. Louis site offers information on different rules of city living.

PBS: Big Apple History
