The Innovative Teacher Leader Program

The Innovative Teacher Leader (ITL) program is designed to train designated professionals who energetically support teaching and learning in their buildings.

Educators in a variety of positions who demonstrate technology leadership potential can be promising candidates, including:

  • Classroom teachers

  • Library media specialists

  • Educational technology specialists

  • Mentor teachers

What to Expect

Trained ITLs at individual schools can increase district technology training and support capacity, while offering staff a rewarding opportunity to grow their leadership skills.

  • 3: Blended Learning & Flipped Professional Learning
  • 4: Powering Authentic Learning with Technology

•Online community of practice and book study

Primary ITL Role Functions include:

  • Professional Learning Network: Build a robust PLN that is both a source of new knowledge and inspiration for themselves and their peers.
  • Coaching: Learn and practice peer coaching strategies centered on constructive peer advice and feedback.
  • Technology Integration: Explore the research based SAMR model and strategies to use technology to support instruction and peer coaching.
  • Strategies for Supporting Innovation: Develop a repertoire of skills and tools for supporting short technical training and job-supports, including just-in-time learning such as embedded job-aids, online tutorials, screen casts, and more.

Ongoing Support

ITLs will have a portfolio of tools and resources they have developed to support learning among their peers. They will also have access to a shared collection of professional learning resources created by their peers and eMINTS staff.
