About This Event:

Awareness & Prevention of School-based Bullying is a self-paced online training designed to help educators understand the mechanisms for reducing bullying and supporting all students. The training includes sections on defining bullying, how to intervene, and federal law related to bullying. After completing the training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize bullying among school-age youth
  • Understand how bullying is established and maintained
  • Understand bullying warning signs and risk factors
  • Utilize a framework for school-wide, classroom, and small-group interventions
  • Utilize individualized interventions for students who don’t typically respond to universal and classroom supports
  • Understand laws that prohibit bullying and harassment

The training was created through a collaboration between Chad A. Rose, Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Missouri and director of the Mizzou Ed Bully Prevention Lab, and the eMINTS National Center. It meets the requirements for two hours of bullying education training. The course is housed in Canvas.
